Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of the Ritva Life platform — the same agreement you accept in the Ritva app.
Ritva Life — Terms of Service for Users
Version: 1.0 Effective date: 13 July 2026 Last updated: 13 July 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are a legal agreement between you and RITVALIFE TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED, a company registered in India (CIN: U63120UP2026PTC245494), registered office at T1-5B, 5th Floor, Godhana, Chandauli, Chandauli - 232104, Uttar Pradesh, India ("Ritva Life", "Ritva", "we", "us").
They govern your use of the Ritva Life app and ritvalife.com (the "Platform"), which you use to book a pandit for a puja.
By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box, or booking a puja, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Our Privacy Policy also applies, and forms part of these terms.
2. Definitions
- Pandit — an independent priest registered on the Platform who performs pujas.
- Booking — your request for a pandit to perform a specific puja at a specific place, date and time.
- Booking cost — the price of the puja, including any add-ons, after any discount or coupon. It does not include GST.
- Total paid — the amount you actually paid us, which is the booking cost plus GST.
- Event date — the date on which the puja is to be performed.
- Accepted — a pandit has agreed to perform your booking.
3. Ritva is an intermediary, not the priest
This is important, so please read it carefully.
- We are a marketplace. Ritva Life connects you with independent pandits. We are an intermediary and an aggregator under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
- Pandits are independent contractors. They are not our employees, agents or partners. They decide whether to accept a booking, and they perform the puja using their own skill, judgement and religious practice.
- The puja is performed by the pandit, not by us. We do not perform religious services. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the ritual content, religious correctness, tradition, form or outcome of any puja.
- What we are responsible for is running the Platform: listing pandits, verifying their identity, matching your booking, taking payment, and providing support if something goes wrong.
- No spiritual or religious outcome is promised. We make no representation that a puja will produce any particular result, benefit or outcome of any kind.
4. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
- You must give accurate information — in particular a correct phone number and a correct address for the event. A pandit has to physically reach you.
- You are responsible for your account and for anything done through it. Keep your device and OTP secure. Do not share your OTP with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from Ritva.
- One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone else without their permission.
- Tell us immediately if you think your account has been used without your permission.
5. Booking a puja
- You choose a puja, a date, a time, a language and an address, and you pay.
- Your booking is a request until a pandit accepts it. We aim to find a pandit quickly — usually within about two hours — but we do not guarantee that a pandit will be available for every request.
- If we cannot find a pandit within 24 hours of your booking, we will cancel it automatically and refund you in full (see Section 8.3).
- Once a pandit accepts, you will see their name, photo, languages, qualifications and rating, and you can message them in the app.
- We share your name, phone number and event address with the assigned pandit, because they must travel to you. We do not share your payment details with them.
- You must give the pandit safe, lawful and reasonable access to the place where the puja is to be performed.
5.1 Samagri (puja materials)
Whether the pandit brings the samagri, or you must arrange it, depends on the specific puja and any add-ons you select. What is included is shown on the puja and add-on details before you pay. Please read it. Anything not listed as included is your responsibility to arrange.
6. Pricing, payment and GST
- The price of each puja is shown in the app before you pay, in Indian Rupees.
- GST is charged at 18% on top of the booking cost. The GST amount and the final total are shown to you at checkout before you pay. The amount we charge your payment method is the total shown.
- Payments are processed by our payment gateway partners, Razorpay and Cashfree Payments. We do not store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password.
- You must pay in full at the time of booking, unless the app expressly offers you an instalment option for that booking, in which case the terms shown for that option apply.
- An invoice will be made available to you for each completed booking.
- Do not pay a pandit directly, in cash or otherwise, for a booking made on the Platform. If a pandit asks you to, decline and report it to us. A payment made outside the Platform is not protected by these terms, is not covered by our refund policy, and is not our responsibility.
7. Coupons and discounts
- Coupons are issued by us at our discretion. Each coupon has its own conditions — a minimum booking value, a validity period, and a limit on how many times it can be used.
- Unless the coupon says otherwise, a coupon is single-use, is tied to your account, cannot be transferred, and has no cash value.
- A discount applies to the booking cost. A coupon never reduces what the pandit is paid — we absorb the cost of the discount.
- If a booking is cancelled, a single-use coupon that you applied to it is released back to you, unless it has expired in the meantime.
- We may withdraw or cancel a coupon if we reasonably believe it is being misused.
8. Cancellation and refunds
This section sets out exactly what you get back if a booking is cancelled. Before you confirm a cancellation, the app will show you the exact refund amount.
Two rules decide your refund: (a) whether a pandit has already accepted your booking, and (b) how close the event date is.
Some terms used below:
- Booking cost — the price of the puja after discount, excluding GST.
- Total paid — what you actually paid, including GST.
- Acceptance advance — a small advance we pay the pandit the moment they accept your booking, to compensate them for committing to your date and turning down other work. It is 10% of the booking cost, capped at ₹300. If the pandit has accepted, the pandit keeps this advance, and it is deducted from your refund.
- Grace window — the 2 hours immediately after you make a booking.
- Days to the event — counted in whole days in Indian Standard Time from today to the event date. The time of day of the event is ignored.
8.1 The refund tiers
| # | Situation | Refund to you |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | No pandit has accepted yet — you cancel | 100% of total paid |
| 2 | No pandit found within 24 hours — we auto-cancel | 100% of total paid, plus a ₹150 coupon |
| 3 | A pandit has accepted, the event is more than 3 days away, and you cancel within the 2-hour grace window | Total paid − the lower of (10% of booking cost) or ₹1,000 − the acceptance advance |
| 4 | A pandit has accepted, the event is more than 3 days away, and the 2-hour grace window has passed | Total paid − 50% of booking cost − the acceptance advance |
| 5 | A pandit has accepted and the event is 3 days away or less | ₹0 — no refund |
| 6 | You are not present at the event (a no-show), verified by us | ₹0 — no refund |
| 7 | The puja is complete, or already cancelled, or the event has started | Cannot be cancelled |
Important: the 2-hour grace window in row 3 applies only when the event is more than 3 days away. If the event is 3 days away or less, row 5 applies and there is no refund, even if you booked minutes ago.
A refund is never more than what you actually paid, and never less than zero.
8.2 A worked example
For a puja with a booking cost of ₹2,500, where the acceptance advance is ₹250:
| You cancel | You get back |
|---|---|
| Before any pandit accepts | ₹2,500 (full) |
| We could not find a pandit in 24 hours | ₹2,500 + a ₹150 coupon |
| After acceptance, event 10 days away, within 2 hours of booking | ₹2,500 − ₹250 − ₹250 = ₹2,000 |
| After acceptance, event 10 days away, more than 2 hours after booking | ₹2,500 − ₹1,250 − ₹250 = ₹1,000 |
| After acceptance, event 2 days away | ₹0 |
8.3 If we cannot find a pandit
If no pandit has accepted your booking 24 hours after you made it, we will cancel it, refund you in full, and give you a ₹150 coupon, valid for 30 days, to use on your next booking. We will notify you when this happens.
8.4 If the pandit cancels
If your assigned pandit cancels, we will try to find you a replacement. A pandit may also hand your booking to another equally qualified, verified pandit in your city. If we cannot provide a pandit, you get a full refund. You are never out of pocket because a pandit cancelled.
8.5 If you are not there
If the pandit arrives and you are not present, and cannot be reached, this is a no-show. You will not receive a refund, and the pandit may be compensated. We verify every no-show claim, with evidence, before acting on it. If you believe a no-show was claimed wrongly, raise a support ticket and we will investigate.
8.6 How refunds are paid
Refunds are made to the original payment method, through the payment gateway. They normally reach you within 5 to 7 working days, though the exact time depends on your bank. GST is refunded in proportion to the refund.
9. Your conduct
When you use the Platform, you must not:
- Treat a pandit with disrespect, or harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against them.
- Ask a pandit to do anything unlawful, unsafe or degrading.
- Take a booking off the Platform. Do not ask a pandit to deal with you directly to avoid our fees, and do not accept such an offer from a pandit. If you do, you lose every protection in these terms, including refunds, verification and support.
- Give false information, impersonate anyone, or use someone else's payment method.
- Post a review that is false, defamatory, obscene, or that you were paid to post.
- Misuse coupons, make bookings you do not intend to keep, or otherwise abuse the refund policy.
- Upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
- Attempt to hack, scrape, reverse-engineer, overload or disrupt the Platform.
- Use the Platform to launder money or for any other unlawful purpose.
If you break these rules, we may cancel your bookings, withhold refunds where we reasonably believe the refund policy is being abused, suspend or terminate your account, and report you to the authorities where the law requires it.
10. Reviews and ratings
- You may review a pandit after a completed booking. A review must be honest and based on your own experience.
- Your review, your rating and your first name are shown publicly on the pandit's profile.
- By posting a review, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display and share it in connection with the Platform.
- We may remove a review that breaks these terms or the law. We do not remove a review simply because a pandit dislikes it.
11. Intellectual property
The Platform, its software, design, text, graphics and the Ritva Life name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may use the Platform only to book pujas. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of it.
12. Limitation of liability
- We are responsible for the Platform. The pandit is responsible for the puja.
- The Platform is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, our total liability to you for any claim connected to a booking is limited to the total amount you paid us for that booking.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity, reputation or religious or spiritual expectation.
- We are not liable for the acts or omissions of a pandit beyond our obligations in Section 8 and our duty to take reasonable care in verifying and matching pandits.
- We are not liable for a failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, including natural disaster, epidemic, riot, strike, government action, or failure of a payment gateway, telecom or internet provider.
- Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 are not affected.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any loss, claim or expense (including reasonable legal fees) that we suffer because you broke these terms or the law, or because of your negligence or wilful misconduct.
14. Suspension and termination
- You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time from within the app.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a booking that is already in progress, and does not affect any refund already owed to you or by you. We keep records that tax and accounting law requires us to keep — see the Privacy Policy.
15. Grievance redressal
If you have a complaint, please raise it with us first, through the support section of the app or by email to support@ritvalife.com. Most issues are resolved this way.
If your complaint is not resolved, you may escalate it to our Grievance Officer, appointed under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020:
- Grievance Officer: Mitesh Chaturvedi
- Email: mitesh@ritvalife.com
- Phone: +91 7028371982
- Address: T1-5B, 5th Floor, Godhana, Chandauli, Chandauli - 232104, Uttar Pradesh, India
We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month of receiving it, as required by law.
For complaints about your personal data, see Section 14 of the Privacy Policy.
16. Disputes and governing law
- These terms are governed by the laws of India.
- If a dispute arises, we will first try in good faith to resolve it through discussion. Please contact our Grievance Officer.
- If it cannot be resolved within 30 days, the dispute will be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator, under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat and venue of arbitration will be Pune, India, and the proceedings will be in English.
- Ritva's services are presently provided in Pune, Maharashtra, and Ritva carries on business there. Subject to arbitration, the courts at Pune, India have exclusive jurisdiction.
- If you are a consumer, nothing in this section takes away your right to bring a complaint before a Consumer Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
17. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we will ask you to accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you may stop using the Platform. Changes do not apply retrospectively to a booking you have already made and paid for.
18. General
- Severability. If any clause is held invalid, the rest of these terms remain in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, we do not lose it.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a group company or an acquirer of our business.
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Platform.
- Language. These terms may be translated. If there is a conflict, the English version prevails.
